United Ways of the Delaware Valley Salute the 2008 John C. Haas Regional Champions
The United Ways of the Delaware Valley,
an association of the 12 regional United Ways, presented the John
C. Haas Regional Champions Medals at their third annual Regional
Leadership Event
on Thursday, October 16, 2008. These medals are presented to both
an organization and an individual who demonstrate an on-going, commitment
to Give, Advocate,
and Volunteer on behalf of the regional United Ways of the Delaware
Valley.
This year, the Regional Individual Champion Award was presented to Ron Jaworski for his work with the Jaws Youth Fund. Ron and his wife Liz, in partnership with the United Way of Camden County created the Jaws Youth Fund which has raised over $2 million for programs for at-risk youth in the region. Ron regularly advocates for community partnership, volunteerism and giving through local United Ways in South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
The Comcast Family of Companies was chosen as the recipient of the Regional Corporate Champion Award for their strong commitment to United Way. In addition to their $1.7 million fundraising total for United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Comcast donated production costs and airtime for United Way public service announcements to run in the regional media market. David, L. Cohen, Executive Vice President of Comcast Corporation was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the company.
